The Thessalon First Nation Day Camp is an on reserve summer camp for those ages 4 and up. Our goal is to promote healthy lifestyle choices through social, educational, and recreational activities to the children and youth of Thessalon First Nation in a safe and nurturing environment.
The Day Camp workers are our own community's local students aged 14+. These workers are under the direction of the Health and Social Services Director and the Community Support Service Worker. They assist in the development, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of the summer day camp program and activities.
The Day Camp offers a variety of activities throughout the summer to provide a positive experience for the children, such activities include:
Over-Night Camping Trips
Day Camp Rules, Guidelines and information for kids and parents:
Respect and obey your instructors at all times
No arguing, fighting, or bullying
Respect the property and rules of the day camp building and other facilities we are at
Day camp workers do not provide transportation to and from home for kids
Day Star Program
DayStar Native Outreach is an organization based out of Wikwemikong First Nation while providing summer programs in 18 other First Nation Communities including Thessalon First Nation. Their desire is to see light and hope come into the lives of the First Nation People that DayStar serves. Their purpose is to see First Nation leaders raised up to show the people in their communities that there is a God who loves them personally, deeply and passionately.
The Day Star program at Thessalon First Nation is filled with crafts, games, dramas, special events and bible teaching. They also do Lady’s Tea, crafts, and other activities within the community. The team that comes to TFN is from Hamilton and now has a permanent DayStar Staff at TFN.
