Thessalon First Nation Economic Development Program

Economic Development works closely with Chief and Council, senior administrative staff and community members to determine immediate and long term goals and objectives. These goals may include new business, infrastructure development and major capital projects related to the local economy.

The goal of the program is to support community and social development linking the economic needs to the social, cultural and environmental realities of the Thessalon First Nation community. It is a base to build self-reliance, generate sustainable economic growth, enhance community control and to increase the capacity for Thessalon First Nation members to participate in the economy.

The program mandate is to effectively manage and be accountable for the following programs:

  • training and employment supports

  • business supports

  • resource management supports.

Business development supports are available such as guidance and tools for any community member with an idea on new business start-up or expansion of a current business. For further information see our
Business Support Services.
